SmokeFree-Privacy
Privacy Policy
Ging Studio (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the SmokeFree mobile application (the “Service”). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
We use your data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
com.gingstudio.smokefree · Contact: minhthanhntkh@gmail.com1. Information Collection and Use
We collect various types of information to provide and improve our Service to you. The types of data collected include:
Personal Data (Personally Identifiable Information)
- Account Information: When you create an account, we may collect your email address and username. If you sign in via a third-party service (e.g., Google Sign-In), we collect the authentication token and basic profile information as permitted by that service (typically your name and email address). You may also voluntarily provide additional profile information such as your full name and gender for a more personalized experience. Your birth year is collected for age verification purposes.
- Communication Data: If you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect your email address and the content of your communications.
Health & Behavioral Data
- Details of your cravings: including selected moods, activities (categorized by context, e.g., location, social), chosen coping strategies, self-reported craving intensity levels, and the outcome of the craving (e.g., overcome, smoked).
- Relapse information: If you report a relapse (e.g., a smoking event), we collect the number of cigarettes or units of tobacco product consumed.
- Customizations: Names and chosen icons for any custom moods, activities, or coping strategies you create (note: creation of custom items may be a premium feature). This also includes preferences you set, such as your list of favorite tips.
- Notes: Short textual notes you may voluntarily add to your craving entries or daily logs.
- Quit Plan Data: Your chosen quit date, type of tobacco product used, consumption frequency (e.g., cigarettes per day), cost per pack/unit, number of years you’ve smoked, the age you started smoking, and the number of previous quit attempts.
- Goals: Personal goals you set within the app related to your quitting journey.
- Widget Interactions: If you use our home screen widgets, data related to your interaction with widget features (e.g., tapping to log a craving, viewing abstinence time) may be processed to update the app and widget content.
2. Use of Data
Ging Studio uses the collected data for various purposes, tailored to the type of information:
Personal Data (PII) is used to:
- Create and manage your user account (e.g., authentication via email/password or Google Sign-In, password reset).
- Personalize your in-app experience (e.g., greeting you by name).
- Verify you meet the minimum age requirement (16 years or older) to use our Service.
- Communicate with you regarding your account, important updates to the Service, or to provide customer support.
Health & Behavioral Data is used to:
- Provide the core quit smoking/vaping functionalities: tracking your progress since your quit date, calculating money saved, cigarettes/units avoided, life gained, etc.
- Enable features like goal setting, achievement tracking, and craving management (logging triggers, moods, activities, coping strategies).
- Generate personalized statistics and insights to help you understand your journey, including visualizing trends in craving and smoking patterns, mood fluctuations, and activity correlations.
- Determine when certain statistical analysis features are unlocked based on the count of your logged craving entries.
- Provide statistics and insights whose comprehensiveness may vary based on your subscription status.
- Aggregate data you provide (such as craving entries, moods, and activities) to generate statistical summaries and visualizations presented to you within the Service.
- Display your progress on the home screen and allow you to share it if you choose.
- Schedule and deliver relevant in-app notifications (e.g., achievement alerts, reminders), respecting your preferences for Quiet Hours or Sleeping Hours.
Financial Information
- Subscription Data: If you subscribe to premium features, our third-party payment processor (e.g., Google Play Store, RevenueCat) collects information necessary to process your payment. To manage your access to premium features within the app, we also store and synchronize your subscription status (such as whether it’s active, the product ID, and expiration date) with your account on our secure servers (Firebase Firestore). We do not directly store your full credit card details; these are handled by the respective payment gateway.
- Currency Preference: Your selected currency preference for displaying financial figures within the app (e.g., money saved, goal targets).
- Derived Financial Insights: Based on your quit plan data (e.g., cost per pack, consumption frequency) and your progress, the app may calculate and display estimated daily savings, total money potentially saved towards your goals, and historically implied expenses on tobacco to illustrate financial benefits of quitting.
Device & Usage Data is used to:
- Monitor and analyze how the Service is accessed and used to identify trends, improve features, and enhance user experience (via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics).
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, and ensure the security and stability of the Service.
- Facilitate background tasks necessary for app functionality (e.g., data synchronization, notification scheduling).
- Power widget features by processing and displaying relevant data on your device’s home screen.
- Serve and measure advertising via Google AdMob, which may use advertising identifiers and similar device data as described in Section 4.
3. Data Storage and Transfer
Your information, including Personal Data, Health & Behavioral Data, Financial Information, and Device & Usage Data, may be stored and processed on servers located in the United States (or other regions as utilized by Google Firebase services) using services like Google Firebase (Firestore for database, Firebase Authentication) and our subscription management provider (e.g., RevenueCat).
If you are located outside the primary region where our third-party services (like Google Firebase, typically the United States) are hosted and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to that region and process it there.
Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
Ging Studio will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.

- Protect against legal liability.
Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service (“Service Providers”), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services, or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. Examples include:
- Firebase (Google): For authentication, database (Firestore), analytics, crash reporting (Crashlytics), and related backend services. Firebase helps us store your data securely, synchronize it if you use multiple devices, and manage your account. Review Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Play Services: For Google Sign-In and for managing subscriptions and payments through the Google Play Store.
- Google AdMob: To show advertisements in the free version of the Service. AdMob may collect and process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, and interaction data with ads for ad serving, fraud prevention, and measurement. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in Android settings (Google → Ads).
- RevenueCat: To manage subscriptions, trials, and access to premium features. When you use our Service, RevenueCat, acting on our behalf, may process your User ID from our app, transaction information (such as Google purchase tokens), and technical information about your device (like device type and operating system) to validate purchases and manage your subscription status. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Play In-App Review API: To request user reviews and ratings for our app. When you choose to submit a review through this API, your review and any associated information are submitted directly to Google and are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not directly collect or store the content of your review or your star rating.
5. Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Personal Data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. We leverage secure cloud infrastructure provided by Google Firebase and other reputable service providers. However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. Your Data Rights, Retention, and Deletion
You have certain rights regarding your personal data, which may vary depending on your location. These can include the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. We are committed to facilitating these rights.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data as long as your SmokeFree account remains active. This allows you to seamlessly resume your progress and access your historical data if you decide to return to the Service after a period of inactivity. There is no automatic deletion of your account or its associated data based purely on prolonged inactivity.
If you choose to delete your account, or if your account is terminated in accordance with our Terms of Service, your personal data will be deleted as described below. You may also request the deletion of your data at any time, as outlined in the “Permanent Deletion of All Your Data (Account Deletion)” section.
Managing Your Data in SmokeFree
Selective Data Deletion: Within the SmokeFree app’s Data Management settings, you have the option to permanently delete specific categories of your data from our live databases. This includes your Goals, Craving Entries, Daily Log entries, and any custom Moods, Activities, or Strategies you have created. Once deleted through this feature, the selected data is typically erased promptly and is not recoverable. When you delete an individual goal or a craving entry directly (e.g., from its list or detail view), it is immediately hidden and marked for deletion, a process that is then finalized from our active systems.
Permanent Deletion of All Your Data (Account Deletion)
- You can request the deletion of your SmokeFree account at any time through the “Delete Account” option in the app’s settings menu. WHEN YOU REQUEST ACCOUNT DELETION, ALL YOUR PERSONAL DATA ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE PERMANENTLY ERASED FROM OUR PRODUCTION DATABASES. This is a hard delete and is generally irreversible.
- This permanent deletion includes: your user profile information (name, email address if provided, user identifiers), your smoking cessation data (quit date, consumption details), all Goals (including previously soft-deleted ones), all Craving Entries (including previously soft-deleted ones), all custom Moods (including archived ones), all custom Activities (including archived ones), all custom Strategies (including archived ones), any achievements unlocked, daily log entries, and your app settings.
- This permanent deletion process will be initiated promptly upon your request and typically completed within 30 days. Once your data is permanently deleted from production systems, it cannot be recovered.
- We may retain anonymized or aggregated data that does not personally identify you for statistical analysis or service improvement purposes. Additionally, limited data may be retained in secure backup archives for a defined period (e.g., up to 60 days) for disaster recovery purposes, after which it is also permanently deleted. If we are required to retain certain information for legal or regulatory compliance (e.g., transaction records for subscriptions for financial auditing), this will be done in accordance with applicable laws, and such data will not be used for any other purpose and will be deleted once the legal obligation expires.
Accessing or Correcting Your Data
You can access and update much of your personal information (like your name, quit date, smoking habits, or active goals) directly within the SmokeFree app’s settings. For requests to access data not visible within the app, to correct inaccuracies, or if you have questions about your data rights or our deletion practices, please contact us at minhthanhntkh@gmail.com.
